Sep 22

So, I haven't yet been here a day and already I have internet access. Not to bad. Pictures taken aren't all that great yet and plus I didn't think to bring a USB cable so we'll save those for later. I know everyone's holding out for a picture of a lion or an elephant right? I'm excited though. Everythings going swimmingly other than some exhaustion which will be remedied from a good nights sleep and a little bit of nausea which has since subsided. The other PC trainees are great and the staff whom we all met today has been really good thus far. I learned how to thank someone and how to greet them. And an interesting thought has been brewing while learning this. Welcome isn't just a rote reply you say after thank you. It actually has meaning outside of that. In Tanzania according to my VERY new and untested understanding they say welcome first and the proper reply is thank you. So I was wondering, why not just say that the proper translation is the opposite and not that they just say it in the opposite way. Instead though if you think about it, it makes good sense. They are saying, you are welcome to this, and you say thank you. Nice huh? Anyway thats enough observation for now. Gotta let someone else use it.

Sep 17

So its still Sep 17th and I'm still figuring out how to work this. Or rather how everyone will find it. Hopefully it will get better.

Kate's just showing me how to set this up so I'll try to not make it to boring for all. Here I am trying to do the blog thing. Gotta get connected somehow, for I will be in Africa for a while. Ahh Africa, I dreamed about you. I'm splitting at the seams with excitement and worry and scaredness. Hopefully I don't fall apart at some critical moment. Nevertheless there are real world concerns on my mind at the moment. Gotta call the bank, and the loan place and get something faxed to me tomorrow when I arrive at the hotel, and how I'm going to do that, I'm not yet certain. Crossing my fingers for an understanding bellhop, and front desk assistant.
